Plastics are used all over the world for various reasons. This is a known fact. Indeed, plastic products are globally significant. Nevertheless, there are many adverse effects that are associated with its usage, hence it became imperative to educational institutions to educate the students on plastic usage reduction. This website collectively scaffolds students' works in Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Language as their way of campaigning for plastic usage reduction in school. These students' outputs from the different subject areas envision to impact other students, and draw general awareness on the dreadful effects of plastics in the environment. Eventually, their posted projects aim to strengthen students' role as proactive partners in saving the Earth.

The four subject teachers in Arts, Social Studies, Science, Language who helped implement the project found ways to infuse engaging and endearing activities to their lessons:

Activity 1 - Class presentation of the collated clippings of published articles and pictures related to the
effects of plastics
Activity 2 - Survey on the usage and awareness on the effects of plastics (teachers and personnel, middle
school students, school vendors) and PowerPoint presentation on the summary report
Activity 3 - With the theme "Communicating to the World" students made slideshow presentations showing
the information/data gathered from the survey

The objectives of the project are as follows:
- Integrate the concepts of environmental protection campaign focusing on the plastic usage reduction and the dangerous effects of plastics, in the specific lessons of the various subject areas in the school (Language, Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Information Communication Technology - ICT).
- Foster awareness to target students the dangerous effects of plastics in the environment.
- Foster appreciation to target students the significant contributions they can do to save the environment by reducing plastic usage.
- Utilize the project-based learning to plan, execute, and scaffold the tangible outputs and other forms of student samples necessary to create an on-line campaign material.
- Conduct telecollaboration with the countries involved (Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines) to secure collective actions among project leaders, and to eventually strengthen the accomplishment of the goal set.

Lesson: Contemporary Arts
Theme: Effects of Plastic
Activity 1 - Poster-making
- Students were asked to individually make posters for their class in Arts. The 10 best posters were chosen during the culminating activity held on March 19, 2013. Posters were judged using the criteria: relevance to the theme, originality, required elements, and attractiveness. For all the information regarding the grading and the criteria, please refer to the Rubric Tools.
- Taking inspiration from the output of the Language class (tag line output/campaign slogan), another group of students designed their own t-shirts. The best printed t-shirts were as well chosen and uploaded in this site.
SOCIAL STUDIES

Theme: Survey on the level of plastic usage and what they do to reduce it
Activity 1 - Videotaped interviews
- Serving as a supplementary activity to the lesson, students conducted scheduled interviews with administrators, teachers and personnel, middle school students, school vendors. Edited interviews in video format were submitted and presented.

- The same group of students also produced infomercials that went with their campaign slogan.
